1968 Chinese Zodiac: Year of the Monkey

Quick answer: 1968 is generally associated with the Earth Monkey in the Chinese zodiac. However, the Chinese zodiac year starts at Lunar New Year, not January 1, so people born in January or early February may belong to the previous animal year.

1968 Chinese Zodiac Personality

The Monkey is traditionally described as clever and curious. The Earth element adds another symbolic layer to the year. These descriptions are cultural astrology traditions and should not be treated as fixed personality facts.

1968 Chinese Zodiac Compatibility

Chinese zodiac compatibility traditions compare animal signs in several ways, but a birth year alone cannot determine whether a relationship will work. Use compatibility ideas as conversation prompts rather than predictions.

Important: January and February Birthdays

Chinese zodiac years follow the lunisolar calendar. If you were born before Lunar New Year in 1968, your sign can belong to the previous zodiac year. For an exact result, use a calculator that checks the Lunar New Year date for your specific birth year.

What Does the Earth Monkey Symbolize?

The Monkey archetype emphasizes being clever and curious, while Earth is traditionally associated with its own qualities in the five-element cycle. Together they form a 60-year stem-and-branch cycle.
